Curiosas palabras de Vladimir Putin

text
Some Europeans want to be more Muslims that the Prophet Muhammad - Putin

Hague, November 3, Interfax - Some politicians in Europe want to be more Muslims then the founder of Islam himself, but there can be no double standards in the struggle with extremism, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin.

‘I have an impression sometimes that some Europeans want to be more Muslims then the Prophet Muhammad’, he said in the Hague at a joint press conference with the Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende.

Answering the question about Chechnya and the respect for human rights in the republic, the president underlined that the state should use civilized methods in its actions. However, he said, ‘we cannot allow the use of principles of democracy for struggle with democratic institutions themselves’.

Pues eso, curiosas palabras por no decir otra cosa.

Putin drew the attention of the journalists to the fact that actions in the struggle with terrorism can be effective only through united efforts and in the absence of double standards.

‘I believe that it is our and your interests that we defend in the Caucasus and Chechnya. If we permit terrorists to raise their head in one region, they will raise it in others as well’, he noted.

Putin reminded that a referendum for the adoption of a Constitution and presidential elections have been held recently in Chechnya.

‘We kept inviting our colleagues from European structures to take part, at least as observers, but nobody came. While representatives of international Muslim organizations did come and took part in those events, among them the Organization of Islamic Conference and the League of Arab States’, he added.
